The Meaning Behind Meghan Markle's New Ring Is Here and It's So Romantic

Did you catch the extremely posh royal parade known as Trooping the Colour over the weekend? If so, you might have noticed that Meghan Markle was wearing a sparkly accessory on her finger: a diamond eternity band. The new piece of jewelry was stacked alongside Meghan’s wedding band and engagement ring—and fans were quick to jump to the conclusion that it was a “push present” (aka a traditional gift given to women after having a baby) from Prince Harry. Yeahhhhhh, not so much.

Turns out the real story behind Meghan’s new ring is just as romantic though, so fear not. Both People and Us Weekly report that the diamond band was an “anniversary gift” from Harry to Meghan in celebration of their big day. The couple got married on May 19, 2018, which means Meghan’s been rocking this ring out of the public eye for almost a month. Romance is alive, etc.

FYI, eternity bands are a pretty traditional gift for both royals and the rest of us non-royals. In fact, Prince William gave a diamond eternity band to Kate Middleton after the birth of their first child, Prince George, which means she and Meghan are technically matching.

And of course this doesn’t mean Harry didn’t *also* give Meghan a push-present. Chances are she just isn’t wearing it in public yet, so stay tuned.
