Star Wars actor David Prowse died on November 28 at the age of 85, following a short illness. He was laid to rest yesterday.
The bodybuilder played Darth Vader in the original George Lucas movies, while the character was voiced by James Earl Jones.
He appeared in the first three films in the franchise – Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
The father-of-three is survived by his children, grandchildren and wife of 57 years, Norma.
Yesterday, his daughter Rachel took to social media to share news of the “small gathering” in honour of her father.
“So today we said goodbye to dad,” her heartfelt post began on Instagram.
“It was a very small gathering of family and close friends.
“Covid restrictions meant there was no wake but we hope to celebrate his life later next year if and when some semblance of ‘normality’ has returned.
“There is so much to say but the fact that we love you dad and we miss you will suffice. #dad #daveprowse #darthvader #greencrosscodeman.”
Rachel’s post also included pictures of the beautiful funeral flowers.
A bouquet of black roses were arranged to look like Darth Vader’s famous mask.
Another floral tribute read ‘Dad’ and included a packet of Parma Violets sweets on the top.
A third display featured a green cross on a background of white flowers.

The actor from Bristol was also known for playing the Green Cross Code Man, promoting road safety to children in the 1970s and 1980s.
The role earned him an MBE in the 2000 New Years Honours for services to charity and to road safety.
Following the news of her father’s death last month, Rachel paid tribute to him online.
On November 29, she wrote on the picture-sharing site: “Many people will by now be aware that dad has died. He passed away peacefully after a short illness on Saturday 28/11/20.
“Thank you so much to everyone that has reached out and sent their love and best wishes to me, my mum and my brothers, it means more than you know.
“As a family we were very used to sharing my dad with others across the world and now that he has gone it is incredibly touching to see and hear about the impact he had on so many people.”
She went on to add: “For those of us that grew up in the 70’s and 80’s he will be best remembered as being the Green Cross Code Man and also for being Darth Vader, the most evil villain in cinematic history; to me he will always just be dad.”
