The more corrupt and authoritarian Donald Trump is revealed to be, the more folks are scrambling to find a candidate to face him in 2020.
Now finally, Joe Biden, who might well have been the frontrunner in 2016 had he chosen to run, has…
Well, he hasn’t exactly thrown his hat in the ring, but he’s certainly holding it in his hand in a frisbee-like fashion.
On Monday night during a book tour stop at the University of Montana, the former VP sent Democratic hearts aflutter by saying:
“I’ll be as straight with you as I can. I think I’m the most qualified person in the country to be president.”
Wow. That is the kind of confidence you don’t often see in the Democratic Party!
Why him? No, it’s not because he’d bring BFF Barack Obama back with him. He explained:
“The issues that we face as a country today are the issues that have been in my wheelhouse, that I’ve worked on my whole life. No one should run for the job unless they believe that they would be qualified doing the job. I’ve been doing this my whole adult life, and the issues that are the most consequential relating to the plight of the middle class and our foreign policy are things that I have — even my critics would acknowledge, I may not be right but I know a great deal about it.”
However, qualification isn’t all there is to it. He said ultimately his family will decide as a unit whether he will run “in the next six weeks to two months.”
Biden even got brutally honest about his biggest weaknesses, acknowledging:
“I am a gaffe machine, but my God what a wonderful thing compared to a guy who can’t tell the truth.”
Ha! So true! So sad how true… He ended by saying:
“Whether or not I run, whoever runs, I’m going to break my neck to make sure they win. We can’t have four more years.”
But don’t play with our hearts, Joe. You make that decision right away!
