A MUM who couldn’t afford to splash out on some new sofas managed to transform her ‘gross’ couch into a chic new piece of furniture.
She shared a photo of her drab, brown settees, which she revealed she’d ‘had for years’.
As she couldn’t afford to replace them the mum decided to buy some covers off eBay, making the sofas look good as good as new for only £26.
She shared before-and-after images on Facebook’s Extreme Budget DIY & Life Hacks, which have racked up more than 600 likes.
She said: “So I’ve had these sofas for years and they are gross tbh but I can’t afford new ones so I tried these sofa covers from eBay and they are lovely.”
The mum opted for a diamond shaped pattern with neutral, earthy tones, complementing the colour scheme in her lounge.
She added: “Really changed my whole room, comfortable and best of all you can wash them.
“All for £26.”
Her post has proved a hit with other homeowners, who have been inspired to revamp their own couches for a fraction of the cost of buying a new one.
One person commented: “Amazing! They have made so much difference to your room, and I love that you can wash them.”
Another said: “OMG I have been looking at these covers but wasn’t sure! I now am thank you.”
A third wrote: “Good transformation on a budget, well done.”
The sofa covers come in six different patterns, ranging from chic grey to bold colours.
You can pick up covers for a two-seater for £13.49, or a three-seater for £17.29, with hundreds of shoppers already snapping them up.
