There’s an interesting story behind Ashton Kutcher‘s ’70s mustache — and it randomly all comes back to Adele.
When Jimmy Fallon inquired as to why he’s rocking the ‘stache, Kutcher said, “I never intended to have this, I don’t think I look good with this but I’m keeping it!”
He explained that he and wife Mila Kunis were invited to Adele’s birthday party recently, and on the day of the event, the actress told him the theme for the bash was “1970s New Year’s.”
“We were both on ‘That ’70s Show.’ I think we got this,” Kutcher, 41, said, adding that he got some bell bottoms and boots and shaved his beard into a mustache.
But when the pair got to the party, he noted Kunis, 36, was wearing a “timeless jumpsuit,” and quickly realized the theme was actually 1930s New Year’s.
“I look like Burt Reynolds from ‘Boogie Nights,’” he said. “What are you going to be like? ‘I got the decade wrong?’ So, I’m just playing it off like this is what I’m doing these days. Like, ‘What’s up Jay-Z? Yeah, this is my thing now.’”
He added, “It was really awkward. So now it’s a spite ‘stache, and I’m keeping it … and now [Kunis] likes it, so I can’t get rid of it.”
