Ted Cheeseman issued a furious statement slamming the judges’ decision to award Scott Fitzgerald an unanimous point decision in their British super-welterweight title fight.
All three judges scored the close fight a win for Fitzgerald, 116-113, 116-113 and 115-113.
But Cheeseman raged at the decision, insisitng he was ‘scammed’ out of a deserved win.
He said: ‘This is the corrupt sport. We’re in training like a lunatic and dedicate your life, make sacrifices to have politics of business take away from me what I deserve.
‘Everyone knows who the real winner of that fight was tonight. Boxed class.
‘Everyone doubted me before, proved you all wrong and then get scammed.’
In the main event in Newcastle, Lewis Ritson beat Robbie Davies Jr in a thrilling toe-to-toe war.
Ritson was fighting in Newcastle for the first time since his shock defeat to Francesco Patera last year.
Most bystanders saw it a much closer fight than the 117-112, 116-112, 116-112 scorecards, with Davies Jr pushing the hometown fighter all the way.
‘This is redemption for me,’ said Ritson. ‘I showed people I can box.’
