Man dies after falling from top floor of Glasgow shopping centre

A man has died after falling from the top floor of a shopping centre in Glasgow.

Buchanan Galleries, in the city centre, was evacuated after the incident at around 4.20pm, the Daily Record reports.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At around 4.20pm a man died after falling within the Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of his death are ongoing."

Posting on Twitter, one user said: "Police and ambulance services are currently at Buchanan Galleries, reports that someone has jumped off the escalator with much of the centre closed off to the public."

And Kayleigh Marshall posted: "Just got evacuated from Buchanan Galleries."

A spokesperson for Buchanan Galleries said: "We can confirm an incident took place this afternoon within the centre.

"We are co-operating fully with the emergency services and assisting them with their enquiries."
