Busy Philipps is an Oprah superfan, so you can imagine how psyched she was to get a call from the woman herself.
The “Busy Tonight” host is so obsessed, her show’s set has its very own “Oprah phone.” That’s right, a telephone designed for one purpose only: to ring in case Oprah ever calls her. And call she did.
“I’m crying now, and I have a cold but I love you,” Philipps said, wiping away tears.
“I’m calling to make sure this doggone phone works,” Oprah said.
“Oh my God, it does,” Philipps replied. “It does. It’s for you, anytime you want to call. We can talk about whatever: Harvest Day or just, like, vegetables.”
The two did talk about vegetables: Oprah was just about to make a salad with items she harvested from her garden.
“I’m so happy you’re on late night,” Oprah added later. “It’s so good to see a woman on late night.”
“Thanks, Oprah, I’m never recovering from this,” Philipps concluded. “This was so amazing. I know you have a salad to make… Have a wonderful holiday, Oprah. Give the dogs and Stedman a kiss for me.”
The crying didn’t stop after Philipps hung up the phone, either.
“How do we recover from Oprah calling?” she tearfully asked her team of writers, who sit on a couch opposite Philipps. “It’s just been a wild time in everybody’s lives. And that was really nice. I don’t know what to say. Yeah, in case anybody thought my Oprah thing was a bit — I’m not that good of an actress.”
