A Tesco shopper who purchased a “cute” penguin duvet set was surprised when the birds were doing more than kissing.
Nikki John picked up the £14 bedding from a supermarket in Watford but didn’t realise the Christmassy creatures had been a little mixed up.
Instead of smooching like they were doing on the bedding’s packaging, they looked rather rude.
The 43-year-old could either position the penguins with their backs turned like they'd just had a “blazing row” or in a rather “compromising position”.
Thankfully, Nikki found the situation hilarious and shared pictures of the amorous-looking penguins on social media.
She said: "I was just like 'oh, how's that going to work then?' and then I saw the funny side and was like 'oh that would be a funny Facebook post’.”
While some remarked that perhaps the fluffy penguins were 'social distancing’, dirty minded people joked that there's a “number for this position”.
The mum-of-two was given a refund from Tesco and has embraced the naughty-looking birds.
Despite this, she refuses to rest her head on the pillows in the rude positioning.
The nanny joked she hasn’t done the move “in a very long time” and the penguins had left her feeling “a bit jealous”.
Nikki, from Watford, Hertfordshire, said: "When I opened it I was like 'oh my gosh, to get them together they're going to have to be doing something I haven't done for a very long time’.
”When I put it on, I was a bit jealous to be honest with you.”
Nikki added: "The penguins just didn't kiss – they looked as if they'd had a blazing row because one had the back to the other one, and was on the other side of the bed.
"They looked as if they'd had an argument, rather than being all lovey-dovey and nice and cosy.
"I just found it really funny that I had to put them in such a compromising position if I wanted them to be kissing – it was just at the wrong end.
"The bedding is still on the bed, and they're arguing – I cannot put my head on the dinner for two with a hairy view.
"I was hoping by posting that Tesco would go 'oh well, we'll send you another one so your penguins can kiss', but they didn't – I either have to have them having an argument or a 69."
Tesco has refunded Nikki since the product mix-up.
