GARETH SOUTHGATE's England came through their biggest home test yet in Euro 2020 qualifying.
Visitors Kosovo gave the Three Lions a huge scare as Valon Berisha netted after just 34 seconds at St Mary's.
But Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, a controversial own goal and a Jadon Sancho brace saw Southgate's men virtually home and dry by half time.
However the Kosovans came flying out of the traps again in the second half with Berisha adding a second and Muriqi converting a penalty.
The Three Lions then had a spot kick of their own saved from Harry Kane by Man City's Aro Muric.

Gareth Southgate on England's performance
“It had its moments but it was a bizarre game. There were poor errors for goals but I'm really pleased with the composure we showed to come back from the early mistake.
“Some devastating attacks from our forwards and I'm pleased with that.
“The players don't need me to tell them that we need to be better.
“The outstanding bits were obvious, the mistakes were obvious.”
Jadon Sancho on his first two international strikes
“I was just delighted to score my first goals for England.
“It was a good run from Raheem for my first goal and he found me. I just slotted it. It means a lot to my family.
“My goal is dedicated to my nan because she was a big fan of me but she sadly passed away.”
FULL-TIME: ENGLAND 5-3 KOSOVO
Well we might have thought we would get eight goals but not in this scoreline. Gareth Southgate will not be a happy man with how England played overall, having criticised without the ball last time out. After all, England lost the second half 2-0.
The return fixture in November will be fascinating especially if Kosovo can nurse the five players they were missing tonight back to health.
Raheem Sterling was the standout performer, given far to much space by his opponents but he exploited to the fullest extent with three assists and a goal of his own.
Vedat Muriqi was superb for the visitors – you can see why Tottenham have been watching him.
ENGLAND 5-3 KOSOVO (89 mins)
Mason Mount, by the way Chelsea fans, is fine but he is lucky. This tackle is late, it's high and the ball is nowhere near it. Rashkaj has just kicked him really and he's lucky it's only a yellow card, frankly.
