For some viewers of The Mandalorian, Chapter 13 was the first time they met “the Jedi” from other Star Wars series, including The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.
In these animated series’ Ashley Eckstein voiced Ahsoka Tano. Now, the actor is sharing her thoughts of her character’s portrayal in The Mandalorian.
Ahsoka Tano appeared in the Disney+ series, ‘The Mandalorian’
The Mandalorian made a few unlikely friends throughout the series. That includes one warrior named Ahsoka Tano, who the Mandalorian hoped would train his Child companion. This character offered wisdom and guidance for our masked bounty hunter.
She even revealed “Baby Yoda’s” real name, which is Grogu. Although Rosario Dawson portrayed this force-wielding character, she wouldn’t be the first actor to tackle this powerful role in the Star Wars universe.
Ashley Eckstein voiced this character in other ‘Star Wars’ television shows
For several seasons of The Clone Wars, this character was voiced by Eckstein. It was through this actor that fans first met Ahsoka Tano, following her adventures as a padawan of Anakin Skywalker.
Now, although she is portrayed by a different actor in the live-action Disney+ series, The Mandalorian, Eckstein commented on what this character means for the Star Wars universe — and to her.
“Millions of people are meeting Ahsoka for the first time after watching her in The Mandalorian and I’m excited for them to hopefully go back and watch her journey in The Clone Wars and Rebels,” the actor wrote. “Millions of fans already know Ahsoka and her presence has come to mean more to them than words in a script.”
The actor commented on the live-action portrayal of this character
In this Star Wars live-action series, Ahsoka Tano was as powerful as she was kind. After seeing her in The Mandalorian, a number of viewers went and watched other Star Wars television shows featuring this character.
That includes the animated series first on Disney’s television network, Disney XD, The Clone Wars. This show has since made the switch to Disney’s streaming platform. Some viewers even shared their love and support for Eckstein.
“Ahsoka taught us that, ‘You don’t need to carry a sword to be powerful…’ and Dave Filoni reminded me that kindness is powerful,” Eckstein wrote on Instagram. “After 12 years (and hopefully many more to come!) of having Ahsoka in our lives, #AhsokaLivesInAllOfUs now.”
“I am blown away by everyone’s kindness,” she continued. “I’ve read all of your messages, DM’s, comments, text messages, and emails and to say ‘thank you’ does not even feel adequate enough to express what your kind words mean to me.”
Recently, Lucasfilm officially confirmed an Ahsoka Tano spin-off series featuring Rosario Dawson as the main character. More information on that will presumably be announced in the coming months.
