The 37-year-old, who is partnered with Pasha Kovalev, insisted becoming friends with fellow dancers is part of the show.
She told Hello magazine: "Everybody hangs out. We're a good group of people and everybody supports each other but he and I are just friends. I have been really busy and this show has been taking up a lot of time – that has been my main focus."
Ashley and Giovanni, who is dancing with Faye Tozer, have been linked throughout the series with The Sun revealing that a "spark" had been noted between them.
The former Pussycat Dolls singer went to reveal she feels her late father’s presence when she takes to the dancefloor.
Her father Pat took his own life earlier this year and Ashley believes he would be proud of her performances on the show.
She said: "The fact that Strictly came into my life when it did, I just felt like it was a gift. I feel that my dad is behind me when I'm doing the show.
"He and I connected through music. He had a recording studio and there was always music playing at home. Music that made you feel something.
"He used to say that if I ever did Strictly he would fly here and see it, so when I got the call I didn't hesitate. I know he would be proud and that he's with me."
Her comments come after we revealed she was left close to tears over fears viewers will vote her into the dance-off every week.
She survived a second nailbiter in two weeks last night despite judges ranking her number two.
She is worried fans vote against her and partner Pasha Kovalev, 38, because of her professional dance training.
An insider said: “She was upset after last week’s dance-off but put it down to a one-off.
“When it happened again she was on the verge of tears. She thinks it will happen every week and asks what more she can do.
“It’s knocked her confidence. She struggled to hide how hurt she was and needed reassurance from Pasha and the others.”
Last night’s BBC1 show saw all four judges back her and Pasha over Casualty’s Charles Venn and Karen Clifton.
Darcey Bussell hailed their quickstep’s “complexity and brilliance”. The insider added: “Ashley’s one of the best dancers ever on the show.
“But scraping through the dance-off each week takes the gloss off.”
