Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One tonight (October 31) with another episode for fans to enjoy. However, the dancing competition looks a little different this year and one judge is missing – so where is Bruno Tonioli? Here’s everything fans need to know about his absence.
Where is Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli tonight?
Strictly fans were delighted when it was announced the 18th series of the show would be returning to screens.
Some thought it might not be able to go ahead this year due to the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19.
However, due to special precautions, the much-loved dancing competition was able to start once again.
Although the series does look a bit different this year with social distancing regulations in place, as well as having a shorter run.
Another major change is one judge is missing from the line-up due to the pandemic.
Bruno Tonioli is not able to appear in this year’s series for the first time in 16 years.
This is due to travel restrictions currently in place between the UK and the US.
Bruno splits his time between both countries and usually appears on both the Strictly judging panel and as well as on the American version of the show Dancing with the Stars.
However, this year he decided to commit to the US series as he would be unable to travel back and forth between the two countries.
Dancing with the Stars began earlier in September and has seen appearances by stars like Chrishell Stause and Nelly.
Although, while Bruno will not be physically able to be in the studio for Strictly, he will make some cameos.
He will appear via video link in the results show on Sunday evenings.
During this, he will give his opinion on the contestants, revealing who he thinks performed well and who could improve.

During this year’s Strictly, no one has replaced Bruno on the judging panel.
Instead, the show just has three judges commenting on and scoring the professionals.
These are head judge Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel-Horwood and Motsi Mabuse.
Ballas opened up to the Radio Times earlier this month about Bruno’s absence from the show.
She said: “[Bruno] is the most spectacular human being you can ever come across, and everything that comes out of his mouth on my left is always sincere, genuine and from a good place.
“I’m going to miss his wafting arms – although, with social distancing, he would have had to have exceptionally long arms.
“It will be nice to have Bruno back whenever he can make it and I know he will be sorely missed.
“But I know that three judges will belly up to the bar and they will give it all they’ve got to keep the enthusiasm alive.”
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One tonight at 7.10pm.
