EastEnders’ Patrick Trueman left in intensive care after horror Covid-19 battle

EastEnders have revealed that Patrick Trueman, played by Rudolph Walker, had to spend a week in intensive care during the time the soap was off our screens.

The BBC One soap has been updating fans on what has been going on during the break, letting them in on Patrick's health battle.

The beloved character, who was introduced in 2001, is revealed to have contracted coronavirus and had to spend a week in Walford General Hospital's intensive care unit.

However the long-standing character recovered and was allowed to come home.

It was also revealed that his son Anthony, who was played by Nick Bailey in his last 2014 appearance, drove down to help him out.

Anthony also told Patrick that one things go back to normal, he and his wife Sheree (Suzette Llewellyn) had to come and stay with him.

It shows that the father and son duo are back to being on good terms.

It wasn't just Patrick that fans got updated on though, as there was news regarding a selection of other characters.

Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) has been speaking with lawyers to finalise his divorce with Sharon (Letitia Dean).

Habiba Ahmed (Rukku Nahar) and Jags Panesar (Amar Adatia) have been going strong in their relationship, though she is still a little embarrassed by it.

To nobody's surprise, Big Mo Harris (Laila Morse) has been taking advantage of the current situation and has been making cash selling masks she acquired from Fat Elvis.

Meanwhile, Luisa Bradshaw-White revealed that her character Tina Carter had also come down with coronavirus while on Secrets from the Square.

Luckily, Tina recovered too.

The BBC soap will finally return to our screens with brand new episodes from next Monday (September 7).

There will also be a special episode of Secrets from the Square on Friday (September 4) featuring a host of unseen moments.

During the time EastEnders was off-air, Stacey Dooley has been presenting the behind-the-scenes show, with episodes focusing on a number of stars.

Among them were Scott Maslen, Jake Wood, Lorraine Stanley, Maisie Smith, Linda Henry and Zack Morris, as well as many more.
