Linda and Anne Nolan joke they ‘look like Right Said Fred’ as they finish chemo

Television presenter Lorraine Kelly welcomed Nolan sisters Linda and Anne to her ITV talk show on Tuesday for their first joint TV interview since their cancer battle.

The singing siblings chatted to the Scottish host about fighting cancer together and urged viewers not to be scared to go and get checked.

Linda, 61, has incurable cancer in her liver and she previously battled breast cancer in 2006, cellulitis and lymphoedema in her arm in 2007 and secondary cancer on her pelvis in 2017.

Anne, 69, has stage three breast cancer, the most serious being stage four.

But proving they hadn't lost their sense of humour despite their hardships, Linda joked: "I said to Anne we're not the Chemical Brothers, but the Chemo Sisters.

"Apart from looking like a Right Said Fred tribute act, we're having great time."

Lorraine viewers rushed to their keyboards to share a message of support to both Linda and Anne following their inspirational interview.

Taking to twitter, one fan penned: "Linda and Anne Nolan are beautiful strong ladies who I had the pleasure of working with many years ago. You are both so inspirational."

Another added: "The Nolans have had their fare share of heartache over the years. Hope that everything goes well for the future. Linda and Anne are looking so well."

A third posted: "Well done ladies! Keep fighting, you're an inspiration."

While a fourth said: "They’re so brave bless them."

Speaking separately from their homes in Blackpool via a video link, Linda and Anne issued a plea to viewers at home.

Former CBB contestant Linda said: "I really think it's important to talk about cancer.

"People ask, 'Why do you speak about it so much?' and 'Why don't you keep it private?' but I think if anyone feels alone, then maybe we can say something on TV or in magazines that can help people.

"Someone with cancer may read or hear something we say and it may help as it's a lonely world out there.

"If you're frightened about going to hospital because Covid is there then don't be because the hospital is most safest place at the moment."

She continued: "Please don't wait or be frightened. Make an appointment."

Anne, who is battling breast cancer for the second time, added: "If you have a lump and it is cancer it won't just go away.

"I've had lumps since I was 29 and the doctors found a cancerous lump when I went for a check-up with a cyst."

Linda and Anne have both finished their chemotherapy treatment and went on to ring the bell at the hospital.

Anne went on to tell Lorraine that her prognosis is "very good".

She said: "I had an operation two weeks ago and they found no cancer from tissues they took from my breast."

Speaking about her health update, Linda added: "I've had my chemotherapy and I'm waiting for results from scans to see if the chemo has worked."

Talking about how they got through their health battles, Anne added: "You've got to have a sense of humour. I can ring Linda and we can chat to each other about it."

Their sister Bernie tragically died from cancer seven years ago, when she was just 52.
