Phillip Schofield, 58, returned to ‘This Morning’ last week after the star and his TV co-host Holly Willoughby took a break over summer. The popular presenter has been the face of a number of ITV shows over the last two decades and before fronted programmes on the BBC. During his time on-air, he has taken part in a number of charity fundraisers. Notably these included a record-breaking TV marathon for ‘Text Santa’ over the Christmas period, which led to unusual insights about 10 Downing Street.
Schofield admitted that the bathroom inside the home of British Prime Ministers past and present didn’t live up to what he imagined.
During an interview for the Channel 4 show ‘Alan Carr: Chatty Man’, he quipped that he expected there to be “Number 10 stamped on the toilet paper” or something luxurious.
However, he added “no, nothing” was out of the ordinary and went on to poke fun about the type of ‘literature’ he found in the bathroom.
When Carr quizzed him if there were a “bunch of magazines like ‘Take a Break’”, Schofield joked that there was other material.
He said: “Yeah, there was a bunch of hunting and shooting and fishing, Tatler, Playboy…”
The quip about X-rated magazines left the audience and the host in hysterical laughter, before Schofield confirmed that he wasn’t being serious.
The star admitted that he visited the 10 Downing Street bathrooms for a “secret wee” during his record breaking 24-hour ‘Text Santa’ show in 2014.
He admitted that it was a “tough one” to do and that the lengthy stint on-air took a toll on his health.
Schofield said: “If anything was tough about that it had to be planning having a wee. I drank so little that I was dehydrated with incredibly elevated blood pressure.”
During the broadcast, he managed to squeeze in a bathroom break during his time with then Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron.

He said: “There are occasional moments throughout the 24 hours that, because of security, you couldn’t be on the telly.
“So one of them was coming out of Downing Street, between the Cabinet Room and the front door – where they don’t want you to know the layout, where it’s a bit of a security blackout.”
Schofield revealed that was when he momentarily sneaked away to use the bathrooms.
The interview he conducted was a UK-first according to the star, who claimed it was the “first ever live interview in the Cabinet Room of 10 Downing Street”.
He added: “It’s never been done live before, which is a big responsibility and was great for them to do.”
