Starz drama Power Book II: Ghost debuted in September and, while a little later than expected, did not disappoint. The series picked up the baton straight where the Power series finale left off and ran with it, leaving audiences breathless as they avidly followed each twist and turn. The 10-part drama is now on a short hiatus and will be back later this year to conclude the first season.

American network Starz has already greenlit season two, so fans have more to look forward to.

However, many viewers are curious to know about what could happen next in the show which is renowned for its huge plot curveballs.

The first half of Power Book II saw Tariq St Patrick (played by Michael Rainey Jr) in the firing line after his attorney Davis Maclean (Cliff “Method Man” Smith) made a secret pact with Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson).

The two men planned to take Tariq down, which would mean Davis’ client Tasha St Patrick (Naturi Naughton) would be spared the death penalty.

Also, Saxe would finally get the justice he felt he was owed after his career and professional reputation were left in tatters from the St Patricks constantly undermining and evading him.

Using some underhand methods, Saxe managed to get Tariq drugged up and while intoxicated seemingly confess to killing his father James “Ghost” St Patrick (Omari Hardwick).

Although it looks like Tariq is very much going to be paying for this crime, in true Power style there will be a twist at some point which could involve Tasha.

Could an incident in prison with Tasha change the trajectory of the storyline?

In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, actress Naughton opened up about Tasha’s life in jail and how she coped with incarceration.

Naughton explained: “You will see some of her life in prison. And I don’t want to say too much about [it], but I’ll just say you will get to see how she navigates her prison like, we will get see some new alliances.

“I’ll say this, she has to find out who she can use and who she can manipulate and who she can befriend.”

She added: “So I think that’s going to be quite interesting to see this.”

Although Naughton didn’t give too much away, Tasha’s time behind bars could also impact on what’s going on outside.

Naughton said she relished the challenge of playing such a major shift in her character with Tasha forced to forego her luxury designer wardrobe and coveted handbags for an orange jumpsuit and a 6ft by 8ft which she now calls home.

The star did admit though it was daunting filming in real prison in New York with inmates just down the corridor from where she was shooting her scenes.

She said she was excited to play Tasha’s “loyalty” to her family and her son, willingly taking the fall so Tariq could have a better life.

Naughton went on to tease how Tasha would “never falter” despite the odds and facing the death penalty.

The actress and former pop star said: “And even when you think that she’s completely going to be broken, she rises up again.”

Her words allude to a resilience despite the circumstances she finds herself in.

Tariq’s raison d’etre is to save Tasha, so it looks like she’s going to be in the slammer for a long period because it will drive his need to help her.

Whether Tasha can be saved remains to be seen but Tariq is in a very precarious position, not least because of his involvement with the Tejadas.
