Channel 4 series The Bridge has got viewers hooked as the 14 teammates try to work together in order to build the 850 foot-long construction, to lead them to a prize fund of up to £100,000. Tonight’s episode saw things get more heated after players Maura and Luke ended up securing £5,000 of the prize pot each, leaving £90,000 left in the kitty – without the knowledge of their teammates. But one contestant has caught attention for another reason after sharing her all-star background after Billie Dee revealed her mum is Trisha Goddard, with the former recently explaining why her mum was “worried” over the prospect of her featuring on the programme.
Last week, viewers were introduced to the teammates who would make up the cast of the new reality TV show The Bridge.
Despite the show’s concept appearing relatively simple, cracks have already started to appear between the contestants.
As things got more difficult this evening, contestant Billie had already caught the attention of viewers after speaking out on her famous mum
Billie revealed in the show’s opener she is the daughter of former talk-show host Trisha Goddard.
Trisha took part in Dancing on Ice earlier this year and now her daughter is the one in the spotlight.
Billie recently spoke out about her mum’s feelings towards finding out she would be taking part in the new programme and detailed Trisha’s “worries” behind the format.
She admitted: “At first she [Trisha] was a bit concerned because obviously, we had no idea what kind of show it would be.
“I think when I first mentioned it to her she was thought it was some kind of Love Island thing and she was really worried about that!
“When I got out and told her that it was, she was super excited. She’s really proud of me,” she gushed.
Some fans have questioned Billie’s decision to share her famous parentage on-screen.
But the contestant went on to explain why she decided to drop the revelation to her fellow teammates.
She added to Metro.co.uk: “I just wanted to get it out of the way. Thinking back afterwards I thought maybe I shouldn’t have said anything and just kept it private.

“But, I just wanted to get on with everyone and I just wanted everyone to trust me, so I thought I’d lay my cards on the table, to begin with,” said the cast member.
Elsewhere on tonight’s programme, Luke and Maura were seen going through with their plan to take £5,000 each, despite the latter’s reservations.
At the moment, their fellow contestants have no idea of the money they’ve already secured – but Maura expressed how “guilty” she felt over her actions.
Could this lead to their winnings being rumbled by the others in the episodes to come?
Later on, the 14 contestants were introduced to two new teammates – Ross and Suzie.
Ross – who has prosthetic legs after a life-changing injury in the army – explained why he wanted to take part in the programme.
In an emotional moment, he told viewers: “After my injuries, I had a bit of a dark time – life’s too short.
“I’ve been given this second opportunity and I just want to live it to the max,” Ross said.
With next week’s trailer teasing even more friction ahead, will any of the contestants manage to go all the way and win their share of the jackpot?
The Bridge continues next Sunday at 9pm on Channel 4.
