South Korea approves $3.5bn in funding to cohost Olympics

The plan for South and North Korea to cohost the Olymics in 2032 has been approved and bidding preparation is under way.

    The city council in the South Korean capital of Seoul has approved initial funding for a plan to cohost an Olympics with Pyongyang.

    The proposal for a joint North-South bid was agreed to by the leaders of the two countries at their last summit.

    But it will cost $3.5bn for South Korea alone, a price tag that is expected to climb steeply.
