- Halle Berry, 54, showed off her super toned abs in a new series of boxing workout photos on Instagram.
- The actress says boxing is her “favorite way to stay fit.”
- Halle also credits mixed martial arts, like jiu jitsu, Muay Thai, and capoeira, for sculpting her strong, washboard abs.
Fact: Halle Berry is a total beast at the gym, cycling through a bunch of different exercises to help her stay super fit. But she just shared in a new Instagram post that she actually plays favorites with her workouts.
“I hear it’s #NationalFitnessDay 🥊 🥊 This is my favorite way to stay fit. What’s yours?” she captioned several shots of herself boxing. OK, but we need to talk about those photos for a second. In them, the 54-year-old actress is wearing a sports bra and leggings, while showing off some serious abs. Halle’s also seriously sweaty and working hard in all the pics.

People were all about it. “That’s how we do 🔥 🥊,” wrote Halle’s trainer, Peter Lee Thomas in the comments. “ABSSSS💓💓💓,” someone else wrote. “LOOKING AMAZING🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” another said.
This isn’t the first time Halle has talked about her love of boxing. In 2018, she talked up her love of the sport on Instagram, calling it “one of the best full-body workouts.”
“You’ll sculpt every muscle and burn major calories and fat,” she continued. “It dramatically decreases stress levels, develops hand-eye coordination, and builds confidence and discipline. But most importantly…you’ll never stop learning.”

Halle’s been boxing for 13 years—get it!—and she said in 2018 that she loves that “I always learn a new way to challenge myself and work new muscles.”
Halle’s rock-hard abs aren’t ~just~ due to boxing, though. She said in an essay for Women’s Health that she first got a strong core while doing gymnastics as a kid, but now tries to switch things up to stay strong. “Over the years, I’ve done my fair share of crunches and situps, but one of the biggest game-changers for my abs over the years has been martial arts,” she said. “Depending on the week, between 30 to 50 percent of my workouts focus on mixed martial arts (MMA) like jiu jitsu, Muay Thai, and capoeira. When you’re practicing MMA, you’re using your core the whole damn time. You’re constantly bracing, twisting, and ducking. It’s a recipe for really strong abs.”
