Aaliyah‘s uncle Barry Hankerson has revealed that the late singer’s posthumous album Unstoppable is set to release this month with some star-studded collaborations.
“About five years ago, we realized we had quite a bit of music that we had never put out that was recorded by Aaliyah,” the Blackground Records founder said in a new interview with YouTube‘s “The Geno Jones Show.”
He added, “The vocals were there, and we decided to try to remaster it and to ask other artists that were big fans of her if they would like to participate in being on various songs.”
Speaking about collaborations, Hankerson said, “We’re thinking Ne-Yo, Snoop Dogg, Future and Drake, one of her biggest fans…those are the features that will be on the record, and that will be out in January.”
The collabs are in addition to lead single “Poison” featuring The Weeknd, which was released last month.
“One of the songs that’s out now is doing incredibly well…so because of that success, we’re thinking it will only get better,” Hankerson said.
