Following her heart-wrenching apology for cancelling her Las Vegas shows, Adele, 33, will now “not play a single gig before the summer” according to The Mirror, after Caesar’s Palace booked Nicole Kidman’s country music star husband Keith Urban as a replacement. The Easy On Me singer broke down in tears last week, as she apologised profusely to those who had travelled to see her, but admitted that “it’s not ready”.
It’s been impossible to finish the show
The London-born songstress was set to play 24 concerts on Fridays and Saturdays at the Caesars Palace’s Colosseum before they were pulled due to Covid implications and production issues.
She began her set on January 18 at the 4,200-seater venue, and was meant to run until April 16.
Tickets for Weekends With Adele range from £700 to £9,000+.
According to reports, the superstar was set to take home a whopping £500K per show, making her the highest-paid female star in the history of the organisation.
Grammy winning superstar Urban, is said to be filling four dates left open by Adele’s postponed residency.
It will add a total of five new shows to his Keith Urban Live – Las Vegas residency, the dates of which are March 25, 26 and 30 and April 1 to 2.
In the video that left many upset, Adele held her head in her hands as she said: “Listen, I’m so sorry but my show isn’t ready.
“We’ve tried absolutely everything. We can’t put it together in time for it to be good enough for you but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid – half my crew, half my team are down with Covid and still are.
“And it’s been impossible to finish the show.”
She sobbed: “I can’t give you what I have right now, because I’m gutted and I’m sorry it’s so last minute.
“We’ve been awake for over 30 hours now to be trying to figure it out and we’ve run out of time.
“I’m so upset, I’m really embarrassed and I’m so sorry to everyone who travelled again.”
At this point, the fan-favourite burst into tears as she cried: “I’m really, really sorry.
“We’re going to reschedule all of the dates, we’re on it right now.
“I’ve got to finish my show and I’m going to get it to where it’s supposed to be.
“I’m so sorry, it’s been impossible, we’ve been up against so much and it’s just not ready.”
Adele sobbed as she leant in to turn off her camera, adding: “I’m really sorry, I’m sorry.”
She captioned the video: “All dates will be rescheduled. More info coming soon,” alongside a broken heart emoji.
Following the emotional apology, fans immediately rushed to the comment section to reassure the singer that it isn’t her fault.
