Alan Igbon dead: Coronation Street and Brookside star dies ‘peacefully’ aged 68

Coronation Street and Boys from the Blackstuff actor Alan Igbon has died “peacefully” aged 68.

He played the estranged father of Ryan Thomas’ character Jason Grimshaw on Corrie.

The star’s niece Lee-Ann Igbon confirmed the sad news on Facebook.

She wrote: “Early December 2020 my mums brother Alan Igbon my uncle passed away peaceful.

“He is well known for being an actor in Boys from the black stuff, Scum, GBH, Coronation st, Brookside and many more. R.i.e.p xxx.”(sic)

Alan’s former co-star Louis Emerick also paid tribute to him following his death.

Louis said: “Another sad loss, #AlanAdjIgbon..Riep Adj. Boys from the blackstuff, Scum ,Gbh, Brooky, Corrie, Adj graced them all.

“A very underrated actor, Adj was an inspiration to me, he and @PaulBarberActor made me realise ‘yes it can be done’. 

“Goodbye Adj, never forgotten.”
