Angelina Jolie proudly beams alongside eldest son Maddox, 21, at White House dinner

It was a high-flying evening for Hollywood legend, Angelina Jolie, last night as she attended the White House state dinner, proudly on the arm of her eldest son, Maddox, 21.

The duo were among high-profile names also enjoying the evening, and were seated, prestigiously, at the head table alongside Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim.

The dinner was held in the East Room of the White House, surrounded by stunning cherry blossoms, with President Joe Biden toasting their relationship with South Korea. The menu was designed by Chef Edward Lee, a Korean-American chef who is renowned for his American-Korean infusion delicacies.

Angelina, 47, who shares Maddox, as well as sons Pax, 19, Knox Leon, 14 and daughters Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 16 and Vivienne, 14, with ex-husband Brad Pitt, shares a special bond with her eldest child, adopting him first and prior to her relationship with Brad in 2002.

The beaming actress looked elated as she walked alongside Maddox, wearing an effortlessly chic cream dress with a quilted Chanel blazer, and accessorised with stunning bronzed pearls around her neck, and golden clutch bag.

Her highlighted hair flowed loosely over her shoulders and her lips were painted a vibrant red.

Maddox looked handsome at the lavish affair in his shirt, black tie and stylish suit, and topped his look off with on-trend rimless glasses and shaggy hair.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted the South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife Kim Keon-hee in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the US-ROK alliance. The two nations, who are tied by their deep and unwavering security co-operations, further secured their bond with the dinner last night. A new military pact was made to counter the growing nuclear threat to North Korea and there was a formal welcome ceremony on the South Lawn, plus a visit to the Korean War Memorial.

In return and in a true celebration for the United States, President Yoon entertained the guests with a sing-song to Do McLean's 1971 smash hit, American Pie. Entertainment also included other American musical classics from Broadway stars Norm Lewis, Lea Salonga and Jessica Vosk.

Maddox is no stranger to South Korea after studying biochemistry at Yonsei University in Seoul, with his glamorous mum flying to South Korea to send her son off to college back in 2019, after first visiting to check out prospective places to study the year prior.

As well as studying the biochemistry course, it is claimed that the intellect has become fluent in Korean, too, studying the language while he was out there. Covid forced him to return to the family home in Los Angeles to tackle online schooling, with Angelina claiming at the time, that her son was forced to become a "night owl" due to remaining on Korean time.

She said: "He had to stay back from Korea. He's going online, and starts at 6pm." Luckily, Maddox was able to return to South Korea in 2021 for 'labs, studio and field study courses' after a year of remote learning.

Whilst it is unclear whether Maddox has officially completed his degree, one thing is for sure – he has a proud mum.

Speaking about his studies in 2019, she said she's "nothing but proud" of him and "looks forward to all he will do."
