Cheryl soaks audience member with wine in on-stage blunder as co-star quits

Cheryl soaked someone watching her 2:22 A Ghost Story with wine during one of her recent performances, according to reports.

The former Girls Aloud star made her West End debut on Saturday 21 January, and while her opening night was thrown into chaos due to rehearsals over running, Cheryl and the rest of the cast went on to receive a standing ovation.

She’s also received glowing reviews from people online.

One person who may not have left the theatre happy is an audience member who Cheryl’s said to have soaked “head-to-toe” in wine.

“Just been soaked head to toe with wine. Thanks Cheryl xo,” the theatre-goer quipped on Twitter.

"Cheryl knocks over a glass of wine during the show (it's meant to happen) and she practically poured the whole glass right over me, it puddled it my jeans and I was sat soaked for the rest of the show.”

“I saw the show when Mandip [Gill, Doctor Who star] was Jenny so I knew it was coming but I didn’t expect so much to hit me," she added.

While the audience member took the ordeal in good jest and jokingly berated Cheryl, others joked she’d been “blessed”.

“You’ve been blessed,” someone replied to her tweet, adding two laughing face emojis.

Tagging Cheryl herself, another fan wrote: “@CherylOfficial if this happens to me, drinks on u after x."

Following the show’s opening night drama, Cheryl and the rest of the cast have since been faced with more turmoil after one star has been forced to drop out of the production.

Cheryl’s co-star Hugo Chegwin has devastatingly quit due to illness. EastEnders actor Jake Wood has stepped in to reprise the role of Ben.

Hugo was supposed to appear alongside Cheryl, Horrible Histories actress Louise Ford and theatre star Scott Karim for the 14-week run at the Lyric Theatre.

People Just Do Nothing star Hugo, 37, said of stepping down: “I’ve had the flu. Due to being poorly during the rehearsal period, I’ve had to pull out of the play.

“I’m absolutely gutted about this and I wish everyone involved in the play the best of luck. The cast are truly amazing.”

Hugo had been snapped rehearsing with Cheryl in the weeks running up to their debut.
