Happy Merry Whatever: Official trailer starring Dennis Quaid
Dennis Quaid has shared details about his cocaine addiction and how getting clean was the best thing he ever did.
The 69-year-old used to take the drug on a near daily basis and claimed it was included in some movie budgets during the 1980s.
At the time, the Parent Trap actor had been in a number of films and was also in a band, which he says broke up because of his unreliability.
In a new interview, Dennis recalled how a particular moment during his addiction prompted him to rethink his life.
Speaking to People Magazine, he said: “I remember going home and having kind of a white light experience that I saw myself either dead or in jail or losing everything I had, and I didn’t want that.”

In a bid to change his life, the actor deicided it was time to check himself into rehab and by 1990, he was better.
He went on release his solo song On My Way To Heaven, written for his worried mum.
Dennis said he penned the personal track “to let her know I was okay, because I wasn’t okay before then”.
The actor has also credited his Christian faith and reading religious texts such as the bible as a saviour.
He added: “That’s when I started developing a personal relationship.

Dennis went on to say he was “grateful to be alive” and “the happiest he’s ever been” after realising the importance of life.
He is also back to a hectic schedule with more film roles under his belt and a newly released album.
In his personal life, he is a father to three children: Jack Quaid, 31 with second wife Meg Ryan and twins Thomas and Zoe, 15 with his third wife Kimberly Buffington.
Dennis married for a fourth time back in 2020 to Laura Savoie.
