Ferne McCann was left in utter shock as her fiancé Lorri Haines unveiled his surprise tattoo dedicated to her during the latest episode of First Time Mum.

The couple, who are expecting their first child together, were celebrating their one year anniversary in the instalment, and both had planned various surprises for the other.

Ferne, 32, who is also mum to daughter Sunday, five, had opted to whisk her beau away for a one-night staycation in a treehouse, complete with couples' drawing and stargazing.

But Lorri chose a much bolder statement to show his undying love for his wife-to-be, and it involved spending a day in the tattoo parlour getting inked.

And while the design itself had already been unveiled, viewers finally got to see Ferne's reaction in full on Wednesday night.

Mental health and fitness coach Lorri explained on camera how his present would be a tattoo showing a peacock holding a fern, with Ferne's name in Japanese writing "on his bum".

"I'm just really hoping that she's gonna like this surprise," the star said excitedly.

After hours of pain and agony, Lorri told his tattoo artist he would have to come back and finish the inking another day, but the main design was in place.

As he struggled out of the chair to head home and show Ferne, Lorri joked: "The things you do for love eh?"

On his way home, the dad-of-one tried to prepare his love, as he said: "I've got a surprise for you."

"I feel like you've been acting a bit shifty today," Ferne replied, though she considered the more likely possibility that her fiancé had got a puppy.

As the new inking was unveiled, Ferne cried: "You've got my name on your bum cheek!"

"Yep!" Lorri answered, seemingly waiting for a happier response. "I'm trademarked. I've been through pain getting this done," he went on, as Ferne couldn't decide what she thought of the move.

"Oh my god. I'm just really shocked," she continued, and Lorri joked: "That's it forever now. Now you've got to get my name now."

But Ferne wasn't so sure as she stated "no" almost immediately.

Speaking to the camera later on, the star admitted she was confused by Lorri's surprise, especially because they were in "such a good place" as a couple now, so couldn't understand why he thought it was required.

Yet despite her shock, the pregnant star seemed to be coming round to the idea in the moment.

"I've never had anyone tattoo my name on them. It's a huge declaration of love," she told her beau, before admitting she was "still processing" and thought it was "mental".

"But do you know what I love it," the star added, before planting a big kiss on her husband-to-be.
