Frankie Bridge turned down Loose Women initially: ‘I thought I had nothing to offer’

Frankie Bridge has opened up about joining the Loose Women panel, and revealed she was approached a year prior to her debut.

Frankie, 33, who shot to fame as one fifth of The Saturdays, has gone on to do a host of things since the band’s split in 2014 – from heading her own fashion range, to going on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

She joined the Loose Women panel in 2021, but could have joined sooner had she realised how great she’d be on the popular daytime show.

“I was first approached by Loose Women a year before I started, but didn’t feel I had anything to offer,” Frankie shared with The Mirror. “I wasn’t comfortable voicing opinions, I’d never had to do it before.”

The mum-of-two went on: “But I’ve learnt to say when I don’t understand something because there will be people watching in the same position. I can be honest about what I think and feel without being embarrassed and that comes with confidence.

“I’m not confident all the time, but I know now that putting myself in uncomfortable situations generally turns out fine.”

Frankie’s life was already pretty busy before her Loose Women debut, and has become even more so now.

Luckily she has hubby Wayne Bridge’s parents on hand to help with their sons Carter, seven, and Parker, nine, as her in-laws live with them at their Surrey pad.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, the former Saturdays singer told us of their set up: “It means we don’t have to rely on a nanny or a babysitter. We’re lucky in that everything is either me, Wayne or his mum and dad, and that’s perfect for us.”

And Frankie says it has come in handy as she has been struggling to find a work/life balance as of late that so many parents crave.

“People ask me how I’m doing and I can’t remember the last time I didn’t reply ‘tired’,” she said.

“I think anyone with kids who’s also working finds it hard to get that balance and there’s this never-ending mum guilt. Am I going to make it back for the match?

“Am I there enough for them? And then at the other end, worrying about whether I’ve given enough of myself to the job.”
