Gabby Logan’s husband Kenny discusses her audiobook

Gabby Logan’s son invited her son Reuben Logan onto her podcast, The Mid-Point with Gabby Logan, where he wasn’t afraid to call his mum and dad out on some of their parenting decisions.

Former professional athlete Gabby, 50, shares 17-year-old twins Reuben and Lois with her Scottish rugby union player husband Kenny Logan, 51.

Today, the BBC star dedicated a special episode of her podcast to her son Reuben “flying the nest”, as he sets out to play rugby professionally.

During the podcast, Reuben conceded that, while he complained about it at the time, it was ultimately a good thing that his parents hadn’t given him a phone until he was older than many of his peers.

He even recalled how, when his classmates began receiving mobile phones at the age of 10 years old, he had pretended to have on to give in to the teacher at the beginning of class so as to avoid any embarrassment or teasing.

He said: “I think you made the right decision by giving it to me later, but at the time I wouldn’t have realised that because obviously…”

“You just argued with me all the time,” Gabby cut in.

“Of course I did, but you were cruel!” Reuben shot back. “At my 12th birthday party they gave me a fake phone.”

“I didn’t do that, I think that was Lois,” Gabby replied, but Reuben insisted: “No you did. It said Gabby, Kenny and Lois.

“There was a box and I thought it was a phone. I thought it was a Nokia and I thought: ‘Well it’s just a phone, I don’t care’.

“I opened it and it was a picture of a phone,” he added, as Gabby started laughing.

“It was not funny!” Reuben doubled down, as Gabby mocked: “It was because you were obsessed by it…”

“I really thought I was getting a phone for that birthday, so I was thinking ‘This is awesome’ and then no phone!” he said.
