Biographer and royal expert Tom Bower has made it clear that he's no fan of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in his book 'Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors', released earlier this year, and now he's hit out at the couple following the release of their Netflix documentary.
The documentary saw Prince Harry and Meghan Markle give viewers a glimpse into the lives and relationship, and dropped a number of bombshells about their departure from royal life.
The controversial series saw Harry claim that William “screamed and shouted” at him during a summit about his and Meghan's stepping down as official royals.
While Meghan claimed that that the Palace planted headlines about her, in order to stop stories about other royals from coming out.
Now, speaking to The Sun, Tom Bower has discussed the documentary and his reaction to it, saying that he believes the series demonstrates how it was Meghan's 'masterplan' to move back to the US.
He said: "I think that they planned the return to California, or she planned to return soon after the wedding – maybe even before the wedding.
"I don't think they intended to stay, and she and advisors thought about how to return and break from London."
Tom adds that, in his view, the Sussexes' interview with US talk show host Oprah Winfrey, and their multi-million pound Netflix and Spotify deals were all "part of the plan" from quite early on.
He said that despite complaining about media intrusion into their lives, the royal couple "seduced with the likes of Oprah and magazines, and now Netflix."
"I think it’s for money. The whole point is they think they should be paid by the media for reporting on them. They want money for interviews and for appearances" he continued.
"Meghan wants to profit from being a celebrity, like how she was brought up. She could never understand how royal 'celebs' were not paid.
"They feel they should be profiting from their royal celebrity status. Previously, they were not paid."
Tom, whose unauthorised biography paints a rather unflattering image of the Sussexes, previously spoke to OK! about Meghan, admitting that he is in awe of the power Meghan has managed to levy from relatively humble roots.
He said: "I never deny Meghan’s successes. She’s an intelligent operator who has thrown down the challenge."
Speaking of the effect Harry and Meghan’s actions have had on the British monarchy, the biographer adds, “Harry is so confused, it’s a tragedy.
"He’s deeply in love with Meghan and he’s deeply grateful for the lifestyle she’s given him, so he’s been blinded."
