Jackson was born on May 16, 1966, in Gary, Indiana, to parents Katherine Esther and Joseph Jackson.
She’s the youngest of 10 children and grew up around music as her brothers — Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Jermaine, and Michael made up the Jackson 5. Her debut album titled Janet Jackson dropped in 1982. She followed that up with her second album Dream Street two years later. Her third record Control came out in 1986 and spawned a handful of hits including “Nasty,” “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “When I Think of You,” and “Let’s Wait Awhile.” Her next album Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814, released in 1989, also had several chart-toppers such as “Miss You Much,” “Escapade,” “Black Cat,” and “Love Will Never Do (Without You).”

The “All for You” artist has been married three times.
In 1984, while on the TV show Fame, Jackson eloped with R&B singer James DeBarge. However, her family did not approve and the marriage was annulled in 1985.
In 1991, Jackson and her former backup dancer Rene Elizondo, Jr. tied the knot. Elizondo directed the videos for her singles “That’s the Way Love Goes,” “Again,” and “Together Again.” Their marriage didn’t last though and they divorced in 2000.
In 2010, Jackson met billionaire businessman Wissam Al Mana at a hotel in Dubai. The pair began dating and said “I do” in 2012.

Jackson has one child–a son named Eissa Al Mana.The star was 50 years old when she gave birth to him.
She announced her pregnancy in a video to her fans via Twitter. Jackson stated that her Unbreakable World Tour would be postponed so she could focus on her family.
“We’re in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change,” she said in the clip. “I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family. So I’m going to have to delay the tour.”
Jackson’s son was born on Jan. 3, 2017. Following his birth, a rep for the star told People: “Janet had a stress-free healthy delivery and is resting comfortably.”
Shortly after welcoming their child, Al Mana and Jackson separated.
