Jamie Fox has spoken out for the first time in months after going to "hell and back" when he was hospitalised for a "medical complication."
The actor took to his own Instagram page to share an update with his fans about his recovery, after being silent on the matter since April.
The 55-year-old's daughter first shared the news that her dad was receiving treatment three months ago but said that he was “already on his way to recovery."
The health scare happened while the actor was filming the Netflix movie Back in Action in Atlanta.
At the time, she didn’t provide many details on the health scare. Even now, addressing his fans in a video months later, Jamie has yet to reveal the nature of the complication but addressed the severity of his condition when he was in the hospital.
Speaking to his Instagram follows in a selfie-video, the Baby Driver and Django Unchained star said: "First of all I want to say thank you to everybody that's prayed and sent me messages.
"I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back. I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through.
"I know a lot of people were waiting , or wanting to know updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn't want you to see me like that.
"You know, I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show, I didn't want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.
"To be honest with you, my sister, my daughter, saved my life. So to them, to god, to a lot of great medical people, I'm able to leave you this video.
"I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in , in such a way, and you all know they kept it air tight, they didn't let nothing out, they protected me.
"And that's what I hoped that everyone can have in moments like these. And you know, by being quiet, sometimes things get out of hand, people saying what I've got…some people saying I was blind… but as you can see the eyes are working just fine.
"They said I was paralysed but I did go through, I went to hell and back. And my road to recovery had some pot holes as well but I'm coming back and I'm able to work."
Fans and celebrities alike rushed to comment on the post, flooding him with support. Justin Timberlake, Viola Davis and DJ Khaldi were among the first famous faces to offer him support in the comments.
Will Smith said: "Awww Man!! Who’s cuttin’ onions?? Love U Foxx!! Your Light Is Needed ‘n Appreciated Right Now!"
