Joan Collins promises 'naughty' plans at King Charles' Coronation 'you wouldn't expect'

Joan Collins, 90, shared how her second marriage to “wonderful” actor Anthony Newley broke down after she discovered he cheated “when he went away to make a movie about his life” in 1969.

The Dynasty actress opened up on the distress of learning about Anthony’s adultery with “about 72 women”, including esteemed actress Barbra Streisand, while addressing crowds at Kite Festival on Saturday.

Opening up on her “wonderful” relationship with husband Percy Gibson, Joan reflected on the prior relationships that had seen her endure physical and mental trauma.

Of her second marriage, Joan shared: “He was wonderful, that was Anthony Newley. We had two great children. He was fabulous until he went off to make a movie about his life in which he went to bed with about 72 women.

“I went to see it at a private screening. I knew that there was something going on when  Barbra Streisand was singing to him at one of our parties, like looking up into his eyes, and I found out later they had had an affair.

“He was a serial womaniser. I was then 35 and I thought, ‘I can’t live like this’ with a man who is going to do that,” she finished.

Joan and Anthony were married from 1963 to 1970 and had two children, Tara and Sacha.

The British-born actor who appeared in EastEnders at the end of his career died in 1999 from renal cancer.

In 1969, Anothony’s marriage with Joan hit the rocks when he made the autobiographical film Can Heironymus Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe And Find True Happiness?

His son Sacha even described the film to The Sunday Times as a “balls-out confession in which he rakes over his entire life, recasting it as a grail quest for the perfect piece of a**.”

After the couple’s divorce, Joan went on to marry twice more before finally finding true love and happiness with her fifth husband Percy Gibson.

The Dynasty star met the producer, who is 32 years her junior, in 2000 while working on the play Love Letters, which Percy produced.

“Percy is the most honourable man I’ve ever met,” she told PEOPLE in March 2002, shortly after the pair married in February.

“I kissed a lot of frogs before I found my prince,” she wrote in her 2011 memoir The World According to Joan.

“For those women who are looking for a life partner, that old saying that men are like buses and ‘if you wait long enough the right one will come along’ is true for a reason.”

Before crossing paths with her future husband, the British actress had no intentions of marrying again — but meeting Percy changed her mind.

“He’s so much his own person,” she told PEOPLE.

“Extremely secure in his own skin.”
