The food writer has been announced dead at 49 after suffering a fatal cardiac arrest. She reportedly died in her New York home in Olivebridge. 

Her widow, Eric Powell, confirmed the sad news to the New York Times.

Julie was most well known for her popular blog The Julie/Julia Project, where she rose to fame in the early 2000s as one of the first food bloggers.

Julie spent a year documenting her cooking as she tried to emulate celebrated cook Julia Child. 

The blog and Julie’s story was so captivating it was taken to the big screen in 2009.
