Kate Lawler, 40, welcomed her first child, a daughter named Noa, with her fiancé Martin, nicknamed Boj earlier this month. The Virgin Radio star has since spoken out on how her family initially thought she was joking when she revealed to them she was expecting.

Talking to Express.co.uk, Kate admitted: “It’s funny because all my family thought I was winding them up. Their initial reaction was like, ‘This is a joke’.”

Her fiancé Boj continued: “Her dad literally just went, ‘Good luck to ya!'”

He went on to talk of how he had the same reaction when he asked Kate’s dad for his permission to marry her.

Boj added: “I asked his permission to marry Kate and we were in the pub, and so [I said], ‘I want to ask Kate [to marry me]’, and he went, ‘Do you think she will say yes?’ and I said, ‘Yeah I hope so,’ and he went, ‘Well good luck to ya’.”

Talking of the sweet reactions, Kate went onto admit she initially filmed them as something for just her and Boj.

She explained: “I’m really happy that we got those reactions on camera because looking back, it was something for us.

“I wasn’t going to post them actually, I just wanted to film them for us and then I was looking back at them the other day and I thought these are really nice videos to share.”

Kate has since announced the birth of her daughter, Noa, on Instagram, who was born on February 12.

Kate and Boj will open up on their journey in becoming parents on the new MTV reality series Celebrity Bumps: Famous and Pregnant.

The couple will join five other celebrity couples on the series including, Charlotte Dawson and her fiancé Matt Sarsfield, former Olympian Perri-Shakes-Drayton and Big Brother Nigeria’s Mike Edwards, Love Island star Marcel Somerville and girlfriend Rebecca Vieira, former TOWIE stars Shelby Tribble and Sam Mucklow, as well as X Factor star Jake Quickenden and his girlfriend Sophie Church.
