Kate Middleton has been seen paying her respects to Sarah Everard in Clapham Common following the tragic news of her murder.

Sarah, 33, went missing on 3 March after leaving a friend's house and failing to return home. After a lengthy search, human remains were found in woodland near Ashford in Kent on Wednesday.

On Friday night, it was sadly confirmed that the remains were those of Sarah, with a serving member of the Metropolitan Police being charged with her murder.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 39, has now been seen laying flowers at the Clapham Common bandstand as she joined mourners in laying flowers for Sarah.

A royal source told ITV's royal editor Chris Ship: "Kate used to remember what it felt like waking around London at night before she was married and the murder of #SarahEverard had moved her.

"It was a private visit and Kate laid flowers from the garden at Kensington."

News correspondent Frankie McCamley first shared the video on social media, posting a short clip of a woman who looked like Kate walking alone through the common.

Frankie wrote to her 6,000 Twitter followers: "The Duchess of Cambridge has come to pay her respects in Clapham following the death of Sarah Everard."

Kate was seen dressed casually as she paced away from the bandstand, dressed in a khaki coloured jacket and black trousers.

Some initially denied it was Prince William's wife in the clip until another video from Sky News presenter Thomas Newton was uploaded.

In Thomas' video, which is taken from directly behind Kate, she is seen reading tributes to tragic Sarah before standing back and observing the tributes.

She then walks away from the scene, followed by a protection officer wearing a blue puffer jacket.

Fans of the mum-of-three rushed to praise her low key appearance at the vigil, which would have go unnoticed if it wasn't for onlookers.

One tweeted: "Alone, unannounced, just a woman who feels the pain like we all do right now for Sarah."
