Kelsey Grammer will be reprising his role as Frasier Crane in a reboot of Frasier for the upcoming streaming service Paramount+.
The reboot series has been in the works for years and now the series finally has a home!
“Having spent over 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and performing in several, I’d like to congratulate Paramount+ on its entry into the streaming world,” Kelsey said in a statement (via THR). “I gleefully anticipate sharing the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr. Frasier Crane.”
Kelsey has been playing Frasier for decades, first debuting as the character in 1984 on the beloved series Cheers. He then starred in the spinoff series Frasier on NBC for 11 seasons. He won four Emmys and three Golden Globes for his work on the show.
“Frasier is one of the most acclaimed comedies in modern television history and truly defines premium storytelling,” said CBS Studios president David Stapf. “There has long been a call from fans for its return, and that call is now answered thanks to the amazing Kelsey Grammer reprising his iconic role of Dr. Frasier Crane and a brilliant creative plan from Joe, Chris and Kelsey. We can’t wait to reveal its next chapter on Paramount +.”
Kelsey will also be starring in an upcoming ABC comedy series opposite Alec Baldwin, which will air during the 2021-22 season.
