Love Island’s Mary Bedford reveals her grandma died while she was in the villa

Love Island star Mary Bedford has revealed that her grandmother tragically passed away during her time in the villa.

In a snap shared to her Instagram platform on Thursday, the 22 year old said she had been taking the time following her departure on the ITV2 dating show to "mourn and reflect".

Sharing an image of herself smiling for the camera alongside her grandma, Mary wrote in the caption: "Our angel on earth is now our angel in heaven.

"Coming off the show has been bittersweet for me as I flew home to go to the funeral of my beautiful grandma who passed away whilst I was in the villa," she added.


Mary emotionally continued: "I've been taking the time since the show to mourn, reflect, and be back with my loved ones before returning to my social media.

"I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the support I have received at this difficult time, I truly appreciate everything."

Mary's fellow Love Island stars rushed to offer their condolences, with Chloe Burrows leaving several red heart emojis.

Amy Day wrote: "Sending so much love beautiful girl", and Clarisse Juliette commented, "Love you Mary" alongside white heart emojis.

Her fans also extended their sympathies with one person commenting: "Sending you love gorgeous girl hope you're ok xxx."

Mary was dumped from the villa alongside Aaron Simpson ahead of the finale.

It is unclear whether Mary is still with Aaron as she appeared to "friendzone" him during an interview on AfterSun.
