A few months after being diagnosed with Stage 2 pancreatic cancer, the former E! News correspondent proudly shows off a number of scars on her tummy through a mirror selfie.
AceShowbiz –Maria Menounos has embraced her scars from pancreatic cancer surgery. A few months after being diagnosed with Stage 2 pancreatic cancer, the former E! News correspondent flaunted the marks left by the procedure with pride through a newly-shared bikini photo.
On Sunday, July 10, the 44-year-old did not shy away from showing off a number of scars on her tummy when letting out a photo of herself. In the picture, she wore a strapless brown bra top and a pair of matching bikini bottoms. Posing in front of a huge bathroom mirror, she was smiling from ear to ear.
In the snap, the host of “Heal Squad” podcast also put on a white shirt with long sleeves, a number of bracelets and several layers of necklaces. Adding bright color to her look, she had her finger and toe nails polished in yellow. For the mirror selfie, she parted her straight blonde hair in the middle.
Along with the post, Maria opened up about embracing her scars. She wrote in the caption, “I look back on surgery earlier this year and am grateful for the strength god blessed me with to get through and of course all of the beautiful humans that he sent to help me too! Now I see the scars that I sunscreen up carefully to protect and I smile.”
Maria’s post was quickly flooded with positive responses. In the comments section, one deemed her an inspiration by writing, “You give me such strength! Just got diagnosed with NHL after advocating for myself because like you said, ‘You are the CEO of your body!’ And just finished 5 days of chemo! God has been so good to me! No strength like the one HE gives!”
Another shared similar sentiment and shared, “I also have those scars. They were going to take my Ampullary tumor out with the Robotic Whipple and couldn’t because it metastasis to my liver. Doing chemo now and it’s helping. You are my inspiration.” A third joined in, “God bless you! You help people like me were there is no cure for auto immune disease.”
Maria’s scars-exposing picture came a few months after she got candid about her preparation for “the worst” during her secret battle with pancreatic cancer. In a May interview with PEOPLE, she admitted, “I had that moment where I thought I was a goner.”
Maria further recalled a conversation she had with husband Keven Undergaro. ” ‘If something happens, here are the people I want her around and what I want you to do. You’ll probably have to move back East to be with my dad so that she has him,’ ” she recounted. “We talked about all of it. We imagined the worst.”
