Earlier this week, a meme suggesting Pete Davidson could move on from Kim Kardashian with Martha Stewart went viral. Now, Martha herself has graced the internet with her thoughts on the possibility of romancing the “SNL” alum. Martha, 81, was asked about the meme while promoting her new restaurant, The Bedford, in Las Vegas, on Friday, Aug. 12. Never one to give up the PR potential of a good viral moment (hello, 2020 pool thirst trap …), Martha reportedly “let out a hearty chuckle” when a reporter from the Daily Mail asked if she was Pete’s latest celebrity lady-friend. “Pete Davidson is like the son I never had,” Martha said of the newly single comic, 28. “He is a charming boy who is finding his way,” she added. While the 53-year age gap could pose a problem for Pete and Martha’s would-be future together, the two have hung out multiple times. They reportedly met on the set of Justin Bieber’s roast back in 2015 and were subsequently photographed holding hands at the White House Correspondents’ dinner on the same night Pete and then-girlfriend Kim Kardashian, 41, made their red carpet debut as a couple. Kim, of course, was also in the picture — but that’s no longer the case since she and Pete called it quits a few weeks back. Pete’s also set to catch up with his would-be dream girl in the very near future. “I’ve invited him to come on my podcast,” Martha told the Mail, “and I look forward to hearing what he has to say.”

The star’s elder son, Homer, 20, also shared an emotional statement with People, saying he hopes “my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom.” He added that he and his younger brother, Atlas, 13, remain “grateful” for the love and support of “friends, family and fans” who “made their hearts known” to him in the wake of his mother’s accident. Anne’s former partner Ellen DeGeneres was among the many stars who paid tribute to the actress on social media Friday, writing, “This is a sad day. I’m sending Anne’s children, family and friends all my love.” Anne stars in multiple projects that are still expected to air this year and next, including Lifetime’s upcoming drama about sex trafficking and violence against women, “Girl in Room 13,” due out in September.

Kate McKinnon admits she felt ‘ashamed’ when she broke character on ‘SNL’

Kate McKinnon’s emotions are still raw in the wake of her final performance as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live.” The actress and comic announced she was leaving at the end of last season, along with Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney, telling Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest on “Live!” last month that her “body was tired” after 11 seasons on the physically demanding sketch show. But saying “goodbye” to her “SNL” family was extremely difficult for Kate, as she made clear through tears on the latest edition of Vulture’s “Good One” podcast. “Telling Lorne was really hard,” Kate said of the show’s creator Lorne Michaels. “He knew it was coming. He was very sweet. But he has been a father figure to me, and so much more. It was just really hard — simple human emotions, not wanting to say goodbye to something you love.” Crying, she admitted the feelings were still all very “fresh.” She also talked about feeling torn about breaking character, as she occasionally did while hilariously recounting her “Close Encounter” character’s borderline tawdry alien abduction stories. “I felt ashamed, because we’re not supposed to [break character], and there’s something unprofessional about it,” Kate explained. “And yet sometimes it was just too fun. There was a hint, I guess, of wanting the audience to know like, ‘Oh, man, I love this. You have no idea how much I love Aidy Bryant and how much I love this job and how much I love these jokes.’ So sometimes I would allow myself to just go there.” Looking back on the highlights of her experience on the show, which earned her two Emmy Awards and nine nominations, Kate recalled how poignant even something as mundane as a rehearsal became because of her bond with the cast and crew. “The most meaningful moments were moments when, like on a Friday night at rehearsal, I decided to stop and look around at the people who I loved so much and just make a memory of it,” she said through tears. “Nothing special — we were all just sitting around, and Mikey [Day] was doing a bit or Alex [Moffat] was doing a bit, and we were catching up and just looking around at the crew. Those are the moments that meant the most.” While she knows she’ll never stop missing the show “and especially the people … an absolute family of people,” the star said she is nonetheless “excited to join new families and explore other parts of myself.”

Robin Williams’ children mark 8th anniversary of his death

Thursday, Aug. 11, marked the eighth anniversary of Robin Williams’ death, a milestone his two eldest children marked with thoughtful posts about their dad on social media. “Dad, on the eighth anniversary of your passing, I’m remembering how incredibly kind and joyful you were,” Robin’s son Zak Williams, 39, tweeted alongside an old photo of the legendary comic and actor. “I deeply miss you you wonderful, hairy man and will be celebrating your life today. Love you so so much!” Robin’s daughter, Zelda Williams, 33, paid tribute to her late dad, too, sharing a quote by the writer Haruki Murakami. “And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive,” the post read. “You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in.” Zelda added a request that followers treat themselves gingerly, writing, “I don’t ask for much, but if I may, be gentle to your hearts today. I know I’m trying. X.” Robin died by suicide in 2014 after battling a form of dementia called Lewy body dementia, though the diagnosis wasn’t made until after his death. He was 63.
