Martin Lewis took to Twitter this morning after making his debut as a main presenter on Good Morning Britain alongside Susanna Reid. The TV star, who is best known for hosting The Money Show, told fans that he was “paranoid” about his lisp.
Earlier this month, the 49-year-old financial journalist underwent a dental procedure which he believes left him with a slight lisp.
Half an hour into the show, he tweeted: “OK first bit done.
“Still paranoid about my lisp. But hope it’s going OK,” he continued, in view of his 1.1 million followers.
Many took to the comment section of his post to reassure the ITV presenter that he had nothing to worry about.
“You’re a breath of fresh air, never noticed the lisp,” one viewer remarked.
“Going very well, not that it will help but I have never noticed your lisp. You sound balanced, eloquent and engaging,” another wrote.
Sharing a similar sentiment a third added: “Nope, no lisp. And even if you did, you’re a national treasure so no-one would care.”
“You’re doing brilliantly, best co presenter since Piers left,” a fourth chipped in.
Martin is no stranger to presenting live shows, however this is his first time hosting a news-based breakfast show.
Ahead of his stint on the programme today, he spoke of his nerves online.
When he got to the studio this morning, GMB host Ben Shephard had left an encouraging message.
He shared the note and advice online.

Martin tweeted: “Great message from @benshephard left for me in my @GMB dressing room. And very sage advice on the left…”
Alongside the post, he posted a picture of the note.
It read: “Have fun, enjoy and get stuck in!!!
Adding: “If in doubt just think what would Ben do? And do the opposite!!”
On June 23, Martin gave his first interview following his dental surgery, revealing that it had been a “struggle” to talk.
Two days earlier he’d shared his concerns while reaching out to fans who had been through a similar experience.
“Slightly worried about my inability to speak, & strong lisp, after the first stage of my implant last week (tooth and bone removed).
“Anyone else had an implant in their front top teeth (central incisor). Did you struggle to talk, and how long until it (hopefully) recovered?” he asked.
Given his performance today, it would seem that Martin is recovering well.
