Modest Mouse Drummer Jeremiah Green Dead At 45

Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green has died. Green, who has been battling stage-4 cancer, passed away on Saturday at the age of 45, the rock band announced on social media.

“I don’t know a way to ease into this: Today we lost our dear friend Jeremiah,” Modest Mouse wrote. “He laid down to rest and simply faded out. I’d like to say a bunch of pretty words right now, but it just isn’t the time. These will come later, and from many people. Please appreciate all the love you give, get, have given, and will get. Above all, Jeremiah was about love. We love you,” Modest Mouse added, captioning a photo of Greene.

Green’s death comes barely a week after his mother Carol Namatame revealed his cancer diagnosis.

Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock confirmed the news, saying the drummer’s treatment is “going smoothly and making a positive difference”.

Modest Mouse was co-founded by Green, lead singer/guitarist Isaac Brock and bassist Eric Judy in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington. With Green’s death, Brock remains the only active original member of the band.

During a brief break from Modest Mouse, Green released a self-titled debut album with Vells in 2003.
