Amanda Owen’s 20-year-old daughter Raven, admitted she doesn’t want to follow in the footsteps of her shepherdess mum. As the eldest of the Owen clan, she has lots of responsibilities including duties on the farm and looking after her eight siblings, all while juggling university.
She’s talking about doing a masters degree and working in labs on Covid vaccines

In a new interview, Raven discussed the struggles of having a big family as she plans her life outside of the famous farm, admitting she doesn’t really have time for peace and quiet.
“The worst thing about being in a big family is that you don’t really have much peace,” she giggled.
“But then the best thing is there’s always somebody to talk to, practice doing people’s hair.
“It’s fun when you open up someone’s drawer and you get all the clothes out and then you style outfits on all of your siblings.”
She continued to tell The Sun, laughing: “I’ve had Reuben in a dress before and it’s been great!”
But while she was launched into the limelight, she has future plans for life outside the countryside and TV.
Studying veterinary medicine at York St John’s, she has ambitions to go into labs and help make life changing vaccinations.
Amanda had previously spoken about how fast Raven is growing up and how she doesn’t want to “take away her independence”.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, she said: “I dropped her off at university and she’s talking about doing a masters degree, and working in labs on Covid vaccines.
“But that’s all down to her. Of course, as her mother, I’ll be there when she needs me, but I don’t want to take away her independence.”
“They have to step up, which I don’t think is a bad thing.
“It makes them feel important.”
Elsewhere, the Owen’s recently had to deal with a family loss.
In Tuesday night’s episode that left some Channel 5 viewers “sobbing”, Amanda and her farming family were dealing with a difficult lambing season when she broke the heartbreaking news that her pregnant sheepdog Kate, sadly lost her puppy overnight.
Amanda broke the sad news to viewers, explaining how they discovered what had happened: “Unfortunately, she is no longer in pup.
“Clive went to let her out at dinner time and her puppy was there still-born,” she said.
However, the farmer reassured fans that despite the stillbirth, Kate appeared to be well.
She remarked: “I’ve got to say, she seems absolutely fine. There’s never been any change in her mood, she’s never been off her food, so she was never even ill.
“I mean, it’s a real mystery,” the Yorkshire Shepherdess explained.
Amanda revealed she had previously had concerns about 11-year-old Kate’s pregnancy because of her age.
Trying to look at the positives, she said: “The worst scenario would’ve been that we had a dead pup and a dead dog.
“To be quite honest with you, I was really worried with her being an older mother.
“So, there was always a danger that, you know, we could have lost Kate. That would have been an absolute disaster.
“So, as it stands I’ve still got my sheepdog, I just haven’t got a puppy,” she noted.
