Barbie: Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling star in trailer
Peter Andre revealed he and Margot Robbie are both from the Gold Coast, which he describes as a “small city” where most people know each other.
He added that it is “incredible to see” how she is doing after taking on the lead role in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie.
In his OK magazine column, Peter said of his “unlikely” connection to the former Neighbours actress: “Margot Robbie, who plays Barbie, is not only a fellow Aussie but is a Gold Coast girl – which is where I’m from, too.
“We didn’t go to the same school together or anything, but it is a very small city, so the fact she’s smashing it in Hollywood is incredible to see.”
Peter added that he has “yet to see the film” but shared how the movie has been successful at making a profit at the box office.
He continued: “The Barbie movie is on everyone’s radar at the moment. I’ve heard conflicting views about it.
“Some claim the movie is anti-men, while others say it’s out of touch with feminism and women’s experiences.
“It’s certainly getting all the headlines, though, which is making the film a huge success,” Peter added.
The 50-year-old admitted the pink-themed flick has given him some style inspiration, as he has worn clothes similar to Ryan Gosling’s Ken in the film.
