Prince Harry learnt of Queen’s death just 5 minutes before public announcement

It’s believed that Prince Harry was only informed of his grandmother the Queen’s death just five minutes before the Royal Family’s public announcement.

The Duke of Sussex rushed to Scotland on the day of the Queen’s passing, but was still airborne when it was announced that she'd died.

It’s now been revealed that it was just a matter of moments before the rest of the world found out about the late monarch’s death that her grandson Harry was informed.

He’d received a call from his father, King Charles III mid-air.

The public statement was released at 6:30pm, with Harry’s plane landing in Aberdeen 16 minutes later.

While he appears to be one of the last members of the Royal Family to be told, it’s said that Charles was adamant that all members of the family be informed before the public.

“The King was adamant that the official statement must not be released until all members of the family had been informed,” a source told The Telegraph. “That was a father talking because he cares.”

They added: “Everybody was trying to get where they needed to be. That was the focus.”

Harry may have been told of the Queen’s passing at the eleventh hour, but it’s believed he was told about his grandmother’s rapidly declining health at the same time as his brother Prince William.

He’s then said to have struggled to have found the means to get to Scotland as soon as possible, while William joined forces with the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex, to fly from RAF Northolt to Aberdeen, landing at 3.50pm.

Her Majesty the Queen will be laid to rest today, Monday 19 September, at 11am.

In a ceremony befitting her historic 70 year reign on the throne, the Queen’s four day lying-in-state has come to an end as the doors of Westminster Palace closed to the public ahead of her state funeral procession.
