Johnny Rotten reveals he has been ‘ruined’ by legal fight with former bandmates over Sex Pistols hits being used in TV drama Pistol

Punk icon John Lydon says he has been ‘ruined’ by his legal fight with former bandmates over the use of Sex Pistols hits in a TV drama.

The singer, known as Johnny Rotten, described Paul Cook, Steve Jones and Glen Matlock as ‘evil’ for bringing the case to license music for the series, called Pistol.

‘I’m seriously in a state of ruin,’ he told The Daily Telegraph. ‘I’ve got no more savings, no more loans, no pensions. I’ve got nothing.’

Lydon, 65, said The Sex Pistols are now finished for ever. ‘For me, that band has ceased to exist.’

The series, to be shown next year, is based on a memoir by Jones and is directed by Danny Boyle.
