We’ve loved watching Stacey Solomon renovate her £1.2 million Pickle Cottage, and now the Loose Women star has shared the clever hack she used to create a homemade chalkboard in her son Rex’s bedroom.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, the 31 year old showed her followers how she made the chalkboard on Rex’s wall using special chalkboard paint and leftover skirting board.

Listing out the steps and filming the process, the mum-of-three revealed the task took her a little longer than planned due to “watery and drippy” paint.

Stacey began by marking out the area she wanted to paint with masking tape before painting on two coats of the chalkboard paint and allowing it to dry for two days.

But despite Stacey using masking tape the paint still bled a little, so the star decided to frame the chalkboard with a border of spare skirting board she had left over from her renovations.

She stuck the skirting board to the wall using glue, before adding a white floating corner shelf for little Rex’s chalks and eraser.

Stacey revealed: "So it took a few days but I’ve done it. Even after some serious shaking and storing this paint is so watery and drippy. So I brushed it all on. 2 coats.

“Dries for 2 days, peeled off tape, it bleed a little so decided to use some leftover skirting for a boarder, glued it on.

"Added floating corner shelf, used pencil holder stickers to hold the chalk."

The presenter completed her montage with a sweet clip of Rex enjoying the finished product and scribbling to his heart’s content.

Revealing she found it “emotional”, Stacey wrote: “I’m emotional again for no reason and he absolutely loves it”.

She also shared a snap of Rex sat on the floor drawing with the caption: “Chalkboard done. I’m going to get some cosy blankets and pillows from his old room to put down for him because I think he’s here for the long haul.”

Stacey and her fiancé Joe Swash moved into their incredible new home in March.

As well as their son Rex the couple share their abode with Joe’s son Harry, 13, and Stacey’s sons, Leighton, nine, and Zachary, 13.

The house comes complete with a swimming pool, pool house and library, and last month Stacey revealed she and Joe will be tying the knot in the grounds of their home.
