Steve Irwin’s son Robert chased by hungry crocodile

It’s official, Robert Irwin and Rorie Buckey are an item. Rumours first emerged of their romance last November when they were pictured together on a beach in Queensland.

One month later, they were snapped together again on Robert’s birthday at the family’s famous Australian zoo.

But the lovebirds finally confirmed their relationship on Instagram earlier this week.

Robert, 19, took to the social media site to share a picture of the couple with his 3.9 million followers.

He captioned the sweet snap with a string of flower and sunshine emojis.

Whilst the teenagers were all smiles in the photo, fans were quick to share their heartbreak at the news.

Fan michaere.me said: “My poor little heart” followed by a crying emoji. Se0kss commented: “Just fell to my knees in a parking lot”.

Ashleyross_07 wrote: “THAT SHOULD BE MEEE” and a coco_stanley_51_ also shared their disappointment by saying: “Alexa, play my depression playlist.”

Wingnutt added: “You just broke the hearts of tens of thousands of young girls across the world. Congrats tho”. And krfrle sarcastically posted: “Gday Rob, the niece is crying thanks mate – anyway cob ooroo.”

Rorie, 19, also shared her first picture with Robert to her 18,000 followers on Instagram.

In the snap, which she captioned “Adventure buddy,” the couple can be seen hugging whilst standing in front of a lake.

Robert’s sister Bindi was first to comment with: “You guys,” followed by three yellow love heart emojis.

Whilst Australian actor Hugh Sheridan wrote: “I can’t even [crying emoji] two of the absolute sweetest humans ever!!!”

And comedian Rove McManus wished the couple well, writing: “All the happiness in the world you two.”

Rorie is the niece of the late actor Heath Ledger who died in 2008. Her mother, Kate Ledger, Heath’s sister, owns a design and media production company. She also has a twin sister, Scarlett.

Following the death of Heath, his family launched the Health Ledger Scholarship to help promising young Australian actors.

Robert is the son of zookeeper and conservationist Steve Irwin who died in 2006 after an injury caused by a stingray.

He has followed in his father’s footsteps working at the family zoo as well as hosting the Discovery Kids Channel television series Wild But True. He currently stars on the Animal Planet reality TV show Crikey! It’s the Irwins alongside his mother Terri and sister Bindi.
