Amy Dowden rings bell to celebrate the end of her chemo journey
Amy Dowden’s social media has been flooded with support from her fellow Strictly Come Dancing stars.
On Thursday, (9 November), the dancer revealed she had undergone her final round of chemotherapy and announced she is due an MRI scan to determine if she needed further surgery.
After posting a video of herself ringing the chemo bell – a brass bell that signifies the completion of cancer treatment – the 33-year-old told her 608,000 Instagram followers that she “can’t wait to get back in the training room” and begin dancing again.
As well as the clip, Amy posted a picture of herself and her husband Benjamin Jones outside of The Sheldon Unit in Birmingham, alongside an image of herself and two friends on the ward.
Across the updates, the BBC star’s colleagues have come out in their droves to congratulate her and pledge their continuing support.

Strictly’s reigning professional champion Jowita Przystal wrote: “Yes Amy!!!! You did it. Can’t wait to see you back on the dance floor xxx.”
Tom Fletcher, whom Amy partnered on season 19 of the show, said: “So proud of you today, Amy. Sending you all the love in the world. You rang that bell!!!”
“You did Amy and you are a role model for so many!! I wish all the best . The strength you have shown in incredible. Proud of you,” wrote Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse.
Former Strictly pro James Jordan commented: “B****y fantastic news!!! You are one strong young lady and an inspiration – ring it loud.”
Dianne Buswell said that the update had made her “So happy”, whilst Gemma Atkinson praised the Welsh native for being “Amazing”.

Elsewhere, Strictly pro Nadiya Bychkova wrote: “Sending you all my love.”
Strictly: It Takes Two host Fleur East has also taken to one of Amy’s latest health updates and said: “You’re incredible,” followed by a heart emoji.
Amy announced in June that she had undergone a mastectomy after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.
Referencing the surgery in her latest video caption, she revealed that two weeks later, she was receiving hormone injections daily “for egg retrieval” and later lost her eyebrows, eyelashes and “three toenails”.
The ballroom pro continued to say that her journey has been “tough”, but that she is “so much stronger” than she has ever been.
“All though my journey isn’t over yet, this day of ringing the chemo bell felt like an endless distance away and at points I thought I’d never make it to. I’m so proud of myself,” she continued before thanking her Instagram followers for their “love and support”.
“My dancing shoes are warming up and I can’t wait to get back in the training room! Now please remember to check yourselves, if you aren’t who is?!,” she added
