Strictly’s Graziano Di Prima talks struggles with wife as time apart is ‘hard’

Graziano Di Prima, 29, exclusively told Express.co.uk how grateful he is to work with his wife Giada Lini, 32, to create new dance musical, La Bamba!.

Giada is a pro dancer on Dancing With The Stars in Italy, while Graziano is busy working on Strictly Come Dancing at the same time each year in the UK.

Fortunately, the couple, who got married in Sicily in 2022, are able to work together on their latest project, allowing them to spend more time together.

The dancers are choreographing the musical together, while fellow Strictly star Pasha Kovalev is starring in the show as Ricardo.

Graziano shared: “I’m working with my wife, because obviously when I’m doing Strictly she does Dancing with the Stars in Italy, which is at the same time.

“And the fact that we can choreograph together is like having another brain and another arm attached to my body, because we know so much of each other.

“We dance together, we know our ideas, and I couldn’t do this without her,” he added.

The Italian dancer went on to admit that the couple rely on technology to communicate with one another while they are working in different countries for months at a time.

Graziano continued: “It’s beautiful [to work with Giada] and I thank technology, because when we are apart, it is literally so hard, because we talk about anything, about jobs firstly, obviously, because we do the same job in different countries.

“But the fact that we can share shows, and the fact that we planned this time together where we can share work, but also living together…

“We just had our wedding last year and the fact that she was with me during the process of La Bamba!, how the show built up to now, it’s beautiful because the more heads you’ve got as a group, the more ideas and more, you know, successful the show can be.”

The choreographer also admitted La Bamba!’s opening night will clash with Strictly season, meaning he’ll have to make a real effort to juggle both jobs at once.

“It starts on the 1st of August at the Curve in Leicester, it’s going to go until the end of November, so it’s going to be during Strictly actually, I’ll have to find a way to see the opening!

“That’s why, I would love to be part of the show, but I’m in the show myself doing Strictly.

“So that’s why I’m going to just choreograph and try my best, obviously for the opening, I’m going to be there.”

Tickets for La Bamba! are now on sale now from www.labambaonstage.co.uk, with the show opening at Curve, Leicester on August 1, before continuing on a UK tour at various theatres across the country until December 2023.
